My Beliefs About Technology and Learning

Technology is a very important part of many Americans everyday lives.  There are many advantages of using technology in the classroom.  Technology opens many doors for students, allowing them to explore new ideas.  Because technology is becoming more and more advanced, it is important to be educated and know how to use the different equipment; however, this could be a pitfall for some educators.  Some teachers may not know how to use and navigate the different forms of technology, and this could result in many obstacles in the classroom.  Another drawback with using technology in everyday learning is that some schools simply do not have the funding for it.  If available, I feel that every classroom should incorporate technology into everyday learning.  These children are being raised in a very technologically advanced world, therefore it is very important to educate the children on how to properly use all of the equipment.

  1. Megan, you make a great point with the lack of funding. Also, mentioning teachers' own lack of knowledge about technology; it would be interesting to have the students teach the teachers!

  2. I agree with technology needs to be in every classroom, but there is no point if the teachers do not know how to use it like you said.

  3. My high school back home had after school classes to help the teachers get used to the new tecnology to be used in the classroom. Also, as a teacher, they should want to take time to explore technology like we do now. If you dont know how to use Excel, for example, you will probably learn from having people show you what to do, but you will learn more from actually learning it on you own.

  4. It is very important for teachers to know how to use technology as a teaching tool. However, do you feel teachers should be required to pay out of pocket for continuing technology classes or should this be part of the school district budget?
